Recognition for the movie Afghan Warrior

July 23, 2010

This week, the film Afghan Warrior directed by David Shadrack Smith, which recounts Reza's return to the scenes of his friendship with Commandant Massoud, was at the height of the movie and broadcasting news.

Thus, it received a Best Documentary Award from the Cine Golden Eagle awards. This is an industry-based award that provides a very good recognition among peers.

On the other side, we are proud and happy to announce that Afghan Warrior received two Emmy Award nominations just this week.

« DANS LA GUERRE »

by Véronique Veber, Vincent Kelner, Alice Panouillot

« Freedom of the press, security threats, dangers of the job...How to be a journalist in Afghanistan? For the last four years, Massoud Hossaini has worked as a photographer for AFP in Kabul. When the Taliban came to power, he fled his native Afghanistan. Son of a professor and an Afghan colonel, Hossaini lived through the hell of refugee camps for almost twenty years, first in Pakistan and later, Iran. Here, he saw the suffering of his people, witnessing many Afghans' resort to drug abuse. From his first reportage Hossaini launched his career as a photojournalist. After the fall of the Taliban in 2001, he returned to Afghanistan to bear witness to the tragedy unfolding there. At 29, he who has only known war feels responsible for his country."
